Horoscope/Birth Chart(Janma Kundali) is a diagram showing the sign rising on the eastern horizon and the placement of planets in different Zodiac signs at the time of birth. In a Horoscope, there are 12 Zodiac signs and 12 houses which signify matters and or aspects of life.

The sign rising on the eastern horizon at the time of birth is called Ascendant or Lagna rashi or Simply Lagna or it's a first house sign.
